Los Angeles is considered the mural art capital of the United States.
Mural art began to take off in the 1970s as a result of the Chicano Movement—a movement led by Mexican-Americans who sought to affirm pride in their Mexican heritage while fighting for social justice and cultural recognition.
Among the thousands of murals painted in the city over the years, many of those depict La Virgen de Guadalupe. Her image appears on public places, storefronts and other businesses, especially in working-class neighborhoods like South Central, East Los Angeles, and Boyle Heights. This book highlights the murals of La Virgen and includes words from some of the artists. All rights reserved @ crome carlos
